Q235D steel plate and standard details

Q235D is a low-alloy high-strength structural steel, belonging to the carbon structural steel series in the Chinese national standard. Its chemical composition and mechanical properties are similar to Q235C, but Grade D steel offers better impact toughness under low-temperature conditions. "Q" stands for "yield strength," "235" refers to the steel's yield strength of 235 MPa, and "D" indicates its quality grade, suitable for more stringent requirements.

The low-temperature impact value of Q235D is a critical indicator of its ability to withstand impact loads in low-temperature environments. Typically, Q235D requires a low-temperature impact value of no less than 27J at -20°C, enabling it to maintain good performance in cold environments. This makes it suitable for equipment and structures that need to operate under low-temperature conditions. For example, it can be used in the manufacturing of oil pipelines, pressure vessels, bridges, and other applications where low-temperature impact performance is crucial.

Due to its excellent low-temperature performance, Q235D is more suitable than Q235C for certain engineering applications in special environments. However, the production cost of Q235D may be slightly higher than that of Q235C, so material selection should be based on specific engineering requirements and cost-effectiveness considerations.
